Nifty today closed at 23,311 points with a gain of 98 points. Sensex today, i.e., on 16 January, closed at 77,042 with a gain of 318 points, while BSE Small Cap closed at 52,308
with a gain of 735 points.

Out of 30 stocks of Sensex, 20 saw a rise and 10 a decline. Whereas, out of 50 stocks of Nifty, 33 saw a rise and 17 a decline, while one share closed without any change. Out of the Central Index, the PSU Banking Sector closed with the highest gain of 2.55%.
In Asian markets today, Japan's Nikkei rose, Korea's Kospi rose by 1.23%, and China's Shanghai Composite Index rose by 0.28%.
According to the NSE data, on January 15, foreign investors sold shares worth Rs 4533 crore, while domestic investors bought shares worth Rs 3682 crore.
